ABOUT MY BOOK

Horrific details of life behind bars are recorded during nine months of incarceration, exploring abject cruelty and punishment. Interwoven are accounts of episodes which lead to the erroneous apprehension of two RI natives—a same sex couple—who adopted two young children.

When the teenaged biological brother and sister accuse the parents of sexual abuse the innocent men are arrested and held without bail at the RI Adult Correctional Institution. They are victimized and endure unspeakable abuse, primarily resulting from coercion by prison staff and state marshals. Release from prison follows a mistrial in RI Superior Court, November 2008. Plea bargaining becomes the only means of avoiding forced reentry into the grave milieu of the ACI.

The stage is set with disloyalty and devotion, despair and expectancy, cruelty and compassion, courage and uncertainty. This chronicle of transcendence reveals insight on diversity, judgment, forgiveness, acceptance and personal choice. Most significant are the commentaries concerning crime and punishment, the criminal injustice and corrections systems, compassion and humanitarianism.

A portion of the sale from every book will be donated to Providence Books Through Bars (providencebtb.org) and ReformSexOffenderLaws.org.

  3. Hello,

I came across your site today and I've been reading your excerpts for a while now. I find them really fascinating, though it is terrible what you had to go through :( I'm actually in my first year of college studying criminal justice and your story has given me a new perspective on the system. I was wondering if your book will be available for purchase in Canada? If not, will I be able to buy it online? I think you are a very strong person for surviving what you did and I wish you all the best. Thanks for your time.

  5. How much of what was printed in the media about your case is false? Did you and your partner actually run an erotic internet massage business out of your home while raising young children? I believe NOTHING the media reports, so I'd like to hear your side of this fact...

  6. Great question. The truth is that I did offer massage services. I was professionally trained but not licensed in RI. That "fact" becomes interpreted as "illicit" which further becomes sensationalized in the imaginations of some. My book explains many of the embellishments and omissions as presented to the public.
